Our goal is to help 1,000,000 Canadians invest intentionally.

Good Investing planners aren’t brokers, advisors, or money managers. We are investment coaches that offer an independent perspective to help people along their sustainable investment journey.

Good Investing was founded by Tim Nash. After years of blogging as The Sustainable Economist, Tim realized that many people feel overwhelmed about sustainable investing and need some help. He created Good Investing as a way to help people learn the basics and make intentional decisions about where they’re investing their money. As demand for his services grew, Tim grew the Good Investing team by bringing Darryl and Amisha on board to help even more people.

Good Investing’s change theory is based on the idea of a tipping point. If we can help a million Canadians realize that sustainable investing is both profitable and impactful, then we think it will become the default way for people to invest. So far, we’ve helped more than 1,000 people become sustainable investors. Although there’s still a long way to go, we are confident that investors are catching on that sustainable investing is not only the right thing to do, it’s also the smart thing to do.

Tim Nash - President

The 2008 stock market crash happened just months after Tim graduated from his Master’s program in Sweden. Determined to carve a path in the sustainable investment industry, Tim decided to start his own company helping institutional investors find sustainable money manager. Unfortunately, Tim was early to the game. There wasn’t much interest in his services, and his first business model failed.

Teaching economics at Sheridan College to pay the bills, Tim opened a TFSA and started looking for sustainable investment options for his own personal portfolio. At that time, there were only a handful of options and he was frustrated with what he found when he looked under the hood. Tim started his blog The Sustainable Economist in 2011 to help people who were going through a similar journey.

People kept reaching out to Tim with questions as they got stuck and needed a bit of help. It was clear there was a need for financial planning among sustainability champions, so in 2017 Tim stopped teaching and officially launched Good Investing. He’s been helping people get unstuck full-time ever since!
